Missing narrative
a series of multimedia works, 2025
collage, sculpture and drawing
This series of works emerges from a desire to deconstruct the representation of feminine and masculine postures in classical and modern art, with the intention of opening space for narratives that are historically marginalized, non-binary and trans bodies. Through collage, wearable sculpture, and drawing, the body becomes a site of overlay and displacement, where forms traditionally coded as feminine are added, repeated, or re-situated, disrupting the stability of gendered representation.
I also reflect on my own personal trajectory in relation to femininity: as a young boy, I performed femininity and engaged with gender through gesture, adornment, and play, often using objects from my childhood such as my mother’s jewellery. These materials and gestures resurface in the works as political and poetic tools, questioning how bodies are classified, valued, and made legible within art history and contemporary visual culture.
