Dreamland

Dreamland (13 min) examines the ecological consequences of Lebanon’s ongoing waste crisis, in which garbage is transformed into landfill to construct new real estate territories along Beirut’s coast. Under the narrative of coastal regeneration, decades-old strata of toxic waste are unearthed and redistributed into the sea — releasing long-buried pollutants into the biosphere.
Through a careful observation of this industrial choreography, the work traces how contamination travels beyond the visible site of the landfill, infiltrating marine life and vulnerable bodies alike — human and nonhuman. Dreamland exposes the entanglement of skin, soil, water, capital, and toxicity as the environment becomes both material and witness to an uncertain future.
